Is Conservative Pain Management Right for you?
What is conservative pain management?
Conservative pain management is the concept of using a non pharmaceutical, non invasive approach to relieve musculoskeletal pain. Musculoskeletal pains such as neck and low back pain are very common, in fact, low back pain is one of the main reasons people seek medical attention.
In 2008 the Journal American Family Physician released guideline for the treatment of low back pain, emphasizing the use of conservative treatments. Great! But then what are conservative treatments? Some of the most successful conservative treatments include physical therapy, chiropractic care, massage therapy and acupuncture. Each of these treatments has had positive results with musculoskeletal pain. The approach used at Norwalk Integrated Medical Center offers all these treatments in one location.
Our Norwalk office offers massage therapy to loosen up your muscles, chiropractic care to increase movement and therapeutic exercise to strengthen the muscle and support the joints. In certain cases acupuncture can be added to help relieve some symptoms associated with trigger points and fibromyalgia.
If you are struggling with neck pain, back pain or other muscular joint pain, ask your doctor if conservative pain management is right for you. If so, give us a call to schedule your initial exam.
